Our Risk Management Department works as a liaison with the Northeast Florida Education Consortium (NEFEC) in accordance with the NEFEC Risk Management manual and the School District of Flagler County Comprehensive Loss Control and Safety Program. This program includes investigations of accidents and incidents related to workers compensation, bus accidents, and liability claims. Other areas of risk management investigations include theft and storm damage, employee, and student accidents. A Risk Management program renewal is completed annually along with all insurance renewals for our school district. Our department also evaluates safety complaints and recommends solutions.

In addition, the Risk Management department performs inspections of all facilities associated with the Flagler County School District.  These inspections include Life Safety, Casualty and Sanitation Inspections, Fire Safety Inspections, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Inspections, playground inspections, and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Inspections.

During inclement weather, the Risk Management Department works closely with the Emergency Operations Center to coordinate shelters when needed and ensure that we have shelter, food, and transportation during hurricanes and other emergencies for our area residents.  Weather alerts are also coordinated through the risk management department in order to keep our school district aware of any severe weather threats. 

Annually, the Risk Management Department conducts and presents a Safety and Security Self-Assessment the Florida Department of Education.
