Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher with the Flagler County School District.  Substitute teaching is an excellent way to learn about the schools while allowing principals, teachers, and staff to get to know you. 


The following is required in order to become a substitute:

Step 1 - Submit an Online Application 

You must apply for a position in order to create an application.  If there are no substitute positions posted and you would like to create an application in order to be prepare for future instructional postings, select General Instructional & Admin Application.

Step 2 - Submit Official Transcripts                                        

Transcripts must indicate that an Associates degree or higher has been awarded.  If your degree was earned outside the United States, you must provide an evaluation of your degree.  Transcripts should be mailed to FCSD Human Resources, 1769 E. Moody Blvd (Bldg 2), Bunnell, FL 32110.

Step 3 - Attend Mandatory Substitute Orientation

Once your application is complete and has been submitted through our online application system, you will be notified by email of the time, date, and location of the substitute orientation. 

It is mandatory that you attend the substitute orientation.  Failure to do so will not allow you to be cleared and placed on the substitute list.

 Step 4 - Required Reading & Pre-Employment Documents

Review the Required Reading for Substitutes then print and complete the New Hire Packet for Subs, Temps and As Needed.  New hire paperwork must be turned into HR.  Please be sure to have your driver's license and social security card with you as a copy will need to be made for your personnel file.

Step 5 - Fingerprint & Background Clearance                    

Contact the Human Resources office (386-586-2391) for further information.

Step 6 - Approval

Upon completion Steps 1-5, receipt of fingerprint and background clearance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, drug screening, reference checks, and verificiation of credentials (including transcripts), the applicant's name will be submitted to SubFinder.  The SubFinder Coordinator will contact you with registration instructions and provide you with a pin and id number.

Step 7 - Obtain ID Badge

Upon receipt of your pin number, you will need to come to the FCSD Human Resources office to obtain an ID badge.

Step 8 - Prepare to Receive Jobs

Record your name on the Subfinder phone system by calling (877) 898-2602.  You will need a pin number to do so.  If you do not record your name, you will not be called for available substitute positions.

Subfinder Online provides you with information regarding current and available sub jobs.  In order to view all functions of this site, click on the Subfinder Online link then enter your last name and pin number.  It is highly recommended that you review the tutorial link located on the side bar menu as it will provide step-by-step instructions of how to utilize the system.
